Opera Event February 28, 2012
The Riverside Lyric Opera will perform a special "mini" opera on Tues.Feb. 28, 2012 at 7:00 PM. It's a special Family Night event and all, especially children accompanied by a parent or adult, are encouraged to attend.
The opera will be an abreviated version of Hansel and Gretel by nineteenth-century composer Engelbert Humperdinck, who described it as a Märchenoper (fairy tale opera).
It relates to the story of two children who are lost in the woods and encounter a wicked witch living in a confectionery cottage, but outwit her in the end to save their lives.
ATTN: Book Clubs - now you can check out "kits" of popular titles from the Library
The Friends have provided the funds for the Library to create "Book Club Kits". These "kits" are canvas bags with everything your Book Club will need to engage in reading and later a lively discussion, including 8-12 copies of the book, discussion questions, book reviews and author information. Available now from the Corona Library Adult Info Desk for up to an 8-week check out.
Titles include:
* The Help
* The Story of Edgar Sawtelle
* Eat Pray Love
* The Guernsey Literary & Potato Pie Society
* Suite Francaise
* Sarah's Key
This is a great way for your book club members to "borrow" these popular book club selections. We hope to add more titles if this program becomes popular and well-received. For more info please ask at the Library and happy reading!
