The Friends’ BookShop conducts a twice-monthly Silent Auction for unique, collectible books, or other items of interest that would otherwise be sold in our shop. Books, sets of books, or audio-visual materials are typical auction offerings.
- At each auction 15 to 18 items are put up for bid.
- Auctions usually last two weeks.
- Items are given a minimum (or starting) bid and then
displayed with a bidding sheet behind the BookShop desk.- Bidders submit a bid by signing their name or initials, phone number and the amount of their bid which must be at least $1 higher than the previous bid.
- The books are up for auction for a two week period during which time you may bid as many times as you wish.
- All items are in either good or excellent condition.
- The time and date of the close of the auction is listed on the bidding sheet. After the auction ends, the winner of the each item receives a phone call alerting them to the outcome. They then have approximately one week to submit payment and pick up their "prize".
The Silent Auction is fun and it benefits the Library.
