Photo Contest Results

The First Annual Photo Contest (2007) sponsored by the Friends last year was a great success. The winners were announced on Thursday evening, February 22, 2007 at a reception held in the Upstairs Gallery at the Corona Public Library. Approximately 150 people were in attendance to view the entries, 227 photographs submitted by the participants in the contest. The winners (see below) recieved American Express gift cards. The photos were displayed as a group in the Library Gallery until early March. After that time some were displayed at the Corona City Hall, while others decorated different parts of the Library for several months. Congratulations!

The Photo Contest sponsored by the Friends in April and May was a great success. Thanks to all the participants. Winners were 1st Place ($300), Brad Canfield with a night shot at the bridge of Dos Lagos shopping center; 2nd Place ($200) Joey Budica; 3rd Place ($100) Anand Sheth with another night scene of the long-time Corona restaurant, the Chuck Wagon. And finally, the Friends' Favorite Award ($100), a prize voted on by Friends' Members only, to Christl Barba her shot of the view from her home across the valley toward Ontario with the Mt. Baldy mountains clearly defined in the background.

	1st Place Winner: $300 Brad Canfield "My wife and I love to sit next to the waterfall at Dos Lagos in Corona and relax after a busy week. I have a passion for the drama created by time-lapse photography and this was the perfect setting for this contest. I used a Sony DSLR-A700 with an 18-250 zoom lens and a 15 second exposure."
	2nd Place Winner: $200 Joey Budica Joey shot this night shot of the 15 and 91 Freeways' interchange with a long exposure of about 5 seconds. The camera was placed on a tripod on the hill north of the 91 and east of the 15 near dusk. He used a Nikon D80 with a 18-135mm zoom lens.
	3rd Place Winner: $100 Anand R. Sheth "I liked the rich colors of this Corona landmark's signage at night and thought it would be a good example of Corona Places. I used a Nikon D70 with a 18-70 zoom lens and a 5 second exposure. I can show my creative side with photography which is the opposite of my day job as a financial analyst."
	Friends' Favorite Winner: $100 (as voted by Friends' Members only) Christl Barba This photo was taken from Christl's kitchen window from her home in the Eagle Glen section of Corona on a rare clear day. The view is of the mountains across the valley looking north toward Mt. Baldy. Christly used a small point-and-shoot digital camera.
