March 20, 2010: Book-a-Palooza

Book Festival and Street Fair on the street and parking lot outside and inside in the community room of the Corona Public Library.
Family fun – Scholastic book faire – live performances – food booths - game booths - & more! The Friends will be giving away free books. Corona's Got Talent Winners will perform. Demonstrations from the Corona Art Assn. Lots of fun for the whole family.
10:00 am - 2:00 pm FREE

Friends' Photo Contest: submissions accepted April 5- 30, 2010.
Friends' 2010 Photo Contest flyer

The Friends 4th Annual sponsored Photo Contest will accept submissions this year April 5 - April 30, 2010. This year's contest theme is "Magical Moments" and includes three categories: Portrait, Black & White, and General. Prizes in each category are $250 for 1st Prize, $150 for 2nd Prize, and $100 for 3rd Prize. Entrants must be 18 years of age. Three entries per photographer.
Announcement of the winners at Reception at the Library May 10, 2010 at 7:00 PM. Winner need not be present to win. Stop by the Library Adult Information Desk for entry forms, contest rules, release forms, and application procedure. Winning photos will be posted on this website. We look forward to all entries!

April 3, 2010: Written By Author Event with Ruth Nolan. The College of the Desert Professor, author and poet, presents a lecture and slideshow about "Literature of the Desert." 11:00 AM at the Corona Public Library.

Ms. Nolan is the Editor of the recently released anthology, No Place for a Puritan: The Literature of the California Deserts. Her presentation will focus on the writings of local authors as well as historically, philosophically, and culturally significant works from other authors in our region and beyond, both past and present, as well as the well-established, the emerging, and the little known.
This event promises to be a highlight of the Written By Author Event series presented at the Corona Public Library this season. We hope to see you there. In the Library's High Desert Room. Q & A to follow presentation. Light refreshments. FREE.

Written by... The Author Event Series returns in 2010

Written By author events logoSponsored by the Friends of the Corona Public Library this series of author events features nationally and locally known bestselling writers. Authors discuss their books, the writing process, and offer books for sale and signing. These programs are free and open to the public to attend the events which are held in the Library Community Room or High Desert Room unless noted below. A great chance for you to meet these venerable writers in an intimate setting. Events are popular, arrive early for best seating.

J.A. Jance, popular bestselling mystery writer, kicked off this series in May 2007 to great success. During 2007-2009, Written By sponsored events with notable, bestselling authors Susan Vreeland, Lawrence Block, Denise Hamilton, and Lisa See among many others.

 

The series will continue with new authors to be added to the schedule throughout 2010.
