Welcome to the Friends' BookShop

BookShop Briefs Update:
July 2010

Who are the The Friends members? We are mostly Corona residents interested in creating a better, more fulfilling Library experience for visitors. We are a group of several hundred who have contributed either money or time or both to this cause. We have fun and feel good about ourselves at the same time. Read more on the Membership or the FAQ's page of this website. We welcome any new or renewing members to enjoy these new and special discounts in the BookShop:

This month the BookShop will be celebrating “Christmas in July” with a special 50% off Sale on all Chistmas and Holiday books and audio-visual materials. This sale starts on Tuesday July 6 for Friends members only. (Just another benefit for Friends’ members.) Starting on July 7 the 50% off Sale on Christmas materials will be open to all BookShop customers. Cookbooks, crafts, decorating ideas, gift books, children’s and young readers, adult fiction, nonfiction, classics and more with a Christmas or Holiday theme all will be included. Many are like new. Don’t miss this once-a-year sale!

Most of our 63 categories are stocked on a very routine basis – many of them daily. In June we received large donations of cookbooks, records and religious books so look for lots of new materials on those shelves.

During the recently ended (May 31, 2010) fiscal year for the Friends of the Library the BookShop reported an income of over $106,000. At our prices that means a lot of turn-over on our shelves. The Friends and the Corona Public Library thank all of our many customers and donators of books and other materials. The donations fill the shelves in the BookShop - plus an average of 2,000 books per year are taken from donations by Library staff and added to the Library’s permanent collection. We can all feel good about  every penny of that $106,000 going to benefit our Corona Library!

Thanks too to the 53 volunteers that operate the BookShop. We have no paid staff, but many willing, committed volunteers each working hundreds of hours per year for free.

At the present time we especially need donations of westerns (we always need this category), audio books, VHS movies, foreign language books and genealogy materials.

Watch for a new supply of our popular citrus label and Road Race magnets  which are sold in the Shop for $1.50.

Come see us soon –  And look on this page for our special Coupons!

Our BookShop's Success Story

The Friends' of the Library BookShop is an used bookstore located in the Corona Public Library. We are fully operated by volunteers and proceeds from our sales directly benefit library programs and projects. The BookShop generated over $100,000 last year alone.

Our BookShop is special and unique among library bookstores or any other used bookseller. We pride ourselves on our well organized, well stocked shelves with 64 categories and easily navigatable colorful signage. New inventory is put out every day. Our prices are amongst the lowest of any competive bookstores offering the same merchandise, often starting at 50¢ for paperbacks and $1.00 for hardcover editions. In addition to books, we also sell audio-visual materials, puzzles, games, sets of books, collectible books, Corona history items, Silent Auctions, and gift books.

We offer new book-related gift items such as t-shirts, book bags, mugs, and note cubes. It’s the perfect place to buy a gift for any reader or “book person”.

We have lots of sales – at least one, and usually three of our categories, are 50% off of the marked price at any given time. NEW! For early notification of BookShop sales, ask to be added to our email alerts, just send us your email address. Be sure to print one of our coupons for monthly discounts.
